Get 4.8 pounds more milk with Mycogen® brand Silage-Specific™ BMR corn hybrids.
More Milk. Better Herd Health. More Profit. Mycogen® brand Silage-Specific™ BMR hybrids produce the most digestible corn silage on the market.
Milk Response
Sixteen university and independent scientific reports published since 1999 show cows fed BMR hybrids produced an average of 4.8 pounds more milk per cow per day than cows fed non-BMR hybrids. Silage-Specific BMR hybrids have up to 40 percent less lignin than conventional hybrids. With a 10 percent to 14 percent increase of digestible fiber, BMR hybrids allow for increased dry matter intake and higher-forage diets, which make more nutrients available to the cow for milk production. They also allow for lower grain feeding which improves rumen health, lowering the risk of acidosis.
Tonnage Increase
Fourth-generation Mycogen brand Silage-Specific BMR hybrids average 2 tons more per acre than previous generations. These hybrids have strong agronomic characteristics, including plant vigor, strong emergence, disease tolerance, standability and plant height. Multiple years of field tests and the latest elite genetics give confidence that BMR hybrids will provide good tonnage. And now you can protect your tonnage by planting a BMR hybrid with HERCULEX®IInsect Protection, which also includes LibertyLink® technology

Real World Results
“You can increase overall ration intake and get more nutrients from fiber digestion. Rumen microbes are more efficient and generate more microbial energy. Because of that, you can replace a portion of starch and energy.”
- John Brouillette, Animal Nutritionist Improve Corn Silage Quality and Cut Feed Costs
“We’ve seen a 3-pound- to 4-pound-per-cow-per-day milk increase. Because we’re feeding a higher forage-to-grain ration, we’re seeing healthier cows, too.”
- Dan Natzke, Wayside Dairy, Greenleaf, Wis. BMR Comes of Age
“When he switched from the silage that won the contest (2002 World’s Grand Champion Forage Producer) to silage made with the BMR corn, his cows’ milk production jumped up about 8 pounds per day to 94 pounds on average.”
- Kyle Sharp, author Brooks’ High Producing Cows rely on High Quality Forages
“There’s no doubt that with BMR corn silage, cows will milk like the dickens.”
- Limin Kung, University of Delaware Give BMR Corn a Second Look
“The bottom line is it has increased our profitability because of higher milk production and better herd health, and lowered purchased feed costs.”
- Jon Rulfs, partner in Adirondack Farms LLC, Peru, NY Brown Midrib Can Make a Difference
“BMR silage is a product that works. It requires a higher level of management skill to grow and to include as part of a dairy’s feed program.”
